Hercy Sandford married 13 May 1565 to Margaret Copley daughter of Philip Copley of Sprotborough and Mary (1530-1597)(Nee Hastings), of Fenwick, Campsall, Yorkshire. He built Thorpe Salvin manor House in the 1570s

- Elizabeth Born Abt 1571 Thorpe Salvin, m. about 1584 to Robert Rogers of Thorpe Salvin
- Ellen (Eleanor) Born: Abt 1573 Thorpe Salvin m. about 1600 Henry Neville, son of Gervas Nevill of Chevet
- Bryan(1566-1566) Sprotborough
- Mary (1569-1635) Sprotborough m.about 1595 Roger Portington of Barnby
- Eleanor (Ellen) b.1575 Thorpe Salvin
Following the death of Hercy Sandford in 1582, Thorpe Salvin passed to his grandson Francis Nevile, son of Ellen Sandford and Henry Nevile of Chevet. He sold the estate to Sir Edward Osborne in 1636 and Thorpe Salvin became the occasional residence of the Osborne family.
