Edward Turner was born in Ulley about 1820, married to Mary from South Emsall, in 1871 he was Farm Bailiff at Steadfoulds Farm, Thurcroft.
They had 5 children, all born at Laughton=en-le-Morthen.
- James b.abt 1852 m. Rebecca. In 1881 living at Brookhouse with 3 children
- Ann b.abt 1854
- Richard b.abt 1858
- Emma b.abt 1861
- Eliza b.abt 1863
John H. b.abt 1868 grandson was also living with them at Steadfoulds in 1871.
In 1891 a John Turner was living at Brampton, it is possible he was son of Edward and Mary.
It is recorded that Edward Turner died 18/3/1899 aged 82 years
George Turner born about 1840 in North Anston, a Mason was living in Laughton in 1871 with his wife, Elizabeth, from Laughton and children:
- Arthur age 6
- George age 11 months
In 1879 was trading as George Turner and Sons, Stonemasons
A few houses away lived Charles Turner aged 59 and his wife, Eliza age 55, both born Laughton. In 1879 Charles was trading as a Stonemason and Lime burner
Also in Laughton in 1871, Reuben Turner a Stone Mason age 47, born Laughton and his wife Ellen, 37 from Kiveton Park. They had 5 children living with them and a lodger:

- Charles age 5
- Emma age 3
- Florence age 4 months

John Turner, a Joiner age 70 lived with his son John age 42, a grocer born in Wortley and a niece Elizabeth - their housekeeper, age 23 from Barnburgh, Doncaster
