Trippet

The Trippet family is one of the oldest Sheffield families. John Trypet and his wife Johanna appear in the Sheffield Lay Subsidy Roll of 1378-9. Trippet Lane Sheffield - now Pinfold Street, was named after a member of the family.

In 1590 a William Tryppet was of Bramley Hall, Handsworth.

Children of Nicholas Trippet:

Burroughs Trippet, son of Robert and Elizabeth married Mary Vincent of Austerfield.

In 1692, Henry, Duke of Norfolk was engaged in legal discussions with the inhabitants of Handsworth, Intake and Gleadless, respecting the right of road through Sheffield Park to the market at Sheffield. He filed a bill in Chancery against Burrowes Trippett and others deforciants.
