Marrian of Sheffield and Laughton
Marian, Marrian, Marrion
Thurcroft Estate was acquired by the Marrian family, who also held land in the Manors of Laughton-en-le-Morthen and Slade Hooton.
Marian DEPREY (1510-1578) was born La Hallotiere, Flanders. He was believed to be a Huguenot. He died in Abbots Bromley, Staffs.
Three generations later the family had moved to Shifnal, Salop then on to Tong, Salop where they lived for five generations. They then moved on to Birmingham in the mid 1800s with Thomas Marrian, son of Francis and Ann Marrion moving to Sheffield
Thomas Marrian was born in 1805 and married Mary Skelton in 1845 in Worksop, Notts. Children all born Sheffield:

- Thomas (1847-1921) died Woking, Surrey; m. 1884 Fanny Twidale from Firsby Lincs
- Francis Skelton (1849-1891) m. 1876 Bradford Sarah Holmes Smedley
- William( 1851)
- Annie Helen (1854-1929) Died Salisbury
- Caroline Elizabeth 1856 m. 1902 Marylebone Robert Pashley
Mary wife of Thomas Marrian Senior, died aged 62 at Thurcroft Hall on 12/08/1879. Thomas Marrian died age 79 at Thurcroft Hall on 15/08/1883.
In 1901 Thomas Junior and his wife Fanny were living at Thurcroft Hall. Also living with them was Mary Marrian, sister aged 41, and 5 servants, a butler, housemaid, under housemaid, cook and kitchen maid.
This section of the Marrian family were Sheffield Brewers who it seems established Thomas Marrian & Co., Burton Weir Brewery, Sheffield in 1882, formerly called the Royds Brewery, this was the largest maltings complex in Sheffield.
