In 1609 John Mauleverer of Letwell, married Margaret daughter of John Lewis of Marr.

On a tombstone in the church at Marr, Doncaster : Here lyeth the body of John Lewis, late of Marr, Esq., deceased, sonne and Heire of Robert Lewis of the same, gent. Lawyer and one of the Justices of our Lady the Queene of Peace and Quorum within the West Riding of the County of Yorke and Recorder of the Towne of Doncaster who died 17 day of October in the 31 yeare of the Raigne of Qu. Elizabeth, and in the xivjth yeare of his age, who married Mary Reresby, daughter of Lyonell Reresby of Thribergh Esq. deceased, by whom he had issue six Children, 2 sons and four daughters.
