Grant of Harthill

Early generations often Graunt.

George Grant was employed by the Duke of Leeds. It is recorded that in 1739 he had the care of his Grace the Duke of Leeds Fox Hounds.

George Grant who was buried the 11 Feb 1739 was married to Mary Ghuest on 30 Jan 1698 at Aston. Source:IGI. Mary was buried the 4 March 1750 age 80 Years.

Children:

George Snr and his son William were both employed by the Duke of Leeds, which was recorded on their burial record in the Parish of Harthill.

Children of George Grant and Ann:

John Grant married in Tinsley 20 Feb 1764 to Elizabeth Hewitt, daughter of a John Hewitt. John and Elizabeth's banns are recorded in the Harthill parish records for Sunday 22 & 29 Jan and 5 Feb 1764.

Elizabeth was buried on 14 Jan 1827 aged 89 years at Harthill

Children of John and Elizabeth (Nee Hewitt):

William¹ married ANN Whitehead 26 DEC 1799 at Harthill. (They had 5 children including Mary Grant who married PETER NEWBOUND 04 MAY 1829 at Harthill)

Notes:Re Mary Grant who married John Story. They had a granddaughter Hannah Story. The IGI's show Hannah Storey married a William Hewit 25 Nov 1817 at Worksop Notts.
