Thomas died in 1855 and is buried with his father and wife. They had 3 children:

- Constance Marion Dyson (1852-1864)
Thomas Shepherd Dyson graduated from Cambridge University. He died 1893 on Thursday Island, Queensland, at age 42 where he was working as a doctor.
