Thomas Deaton was born 1843 in Morton, Lincolnshire. A Farm Labourer, in 1881, he was living with his wife Jane, (born 1846 at Bourne, Lincolnshire) at High Street Eckington. They had 6 children, all born Eckington:
- Ellen b.1871
- Jane b.1873
- William b.1875
- Thomas b.1877
- John b.1879
- Edward b.1880
William Deaton (b.1875) married in June 1898 to Ellen (Nee Smith) b.1876. Children:
- Alice Deaton b.1899 New Whittington, Derbyshire
- Sarah Deaton, born 1901 New Whittington, Derbyshire married James Rose
In 1901 the Deaton family were living at New Whittington. Ellen's father - George Smith b.1838 (63yrs old) who came from Chipping Warden, North Hants was living with them.
Sarah Jane Deaton married James Rose in March 1924 at Ecclesall Sheffield (This was the boundary for Derbys & Yorks at the time)
It is thought that at some stage after her marriage to James they lived at 12 Springwood Avenue Aughton. James had an accident and died soon after the marriage.
Sarah married again to ? Hampton.
It is possible that they settled in this area as James was maybe connected to the Rose family already in Aston and Whiston
in 1939 Miss Dorothy Deaton Head Teacher of Catcliffe Council Infants School was offered a scholarship by the Chautauqua Institution to visit America for a month or so during 1939. Any connection to this family?
