Swamp Circus Trust, Performing Arts & The Community
Swamp Circus Trust is a registered charity and a non profit making company.
Swamp Circus was started in a disused steel works, in Sheffield in 1986, by local acrobats, jugglers, aerial performers and other trapeze artists. It has grown into a national company with offices in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Swamp Circus Trust believes regeneration is not just about new buildings; it's about the individuals who make up the community. Performing arts are a way of getting people of all ages and backgrounds involved in the community.
Swamp Circus Trust runs community circus projects designed to address areas of social need for people of all ages and abilities. The excitement of circus makes it perfect for engaging people in new activities and hobbies.Swamp Circus Trust's Youth Circus Project is a new venture aiming to establish 3 parallel and connected Youth Circus Groups in Rotherham, York and Nottingham. Sustain the Youth Circus Groups for three years, providing high quality training and increasing participants' opportunities for a career in the Arts, and provide additional related taster sessions and summer schools, to help with engagement and reach more people. They hope to develop apprenticeships to engage young adults in the delivering of circus activities to young people in their community.
