Words of Encouragement
Good news for Rotherham ex-patriate Shirley Parent whose book of inspired poetry has hit the stores around the world.
Shirley, born as Shirley Wadsworth in Rotherham, England in 1938, experienced life as a child in that war-torn country, and emigrated to Ottawa, Canada in 1966. She became a born-again Christian in 1981. She's the mother of three and grandmother of four and now lives in London, Ontario, Canada, in the lower Great Lakes area.
Her poems in "Pools in the Desert" are meant to be just that - words of encouragement in a dry place.
Written from the heart, based often on Holy Scriptures, Shirley Parent's poetry speaks from her experiences on her own journey through life.
Now a senior citizen, she has been divorced twice and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997. Confined to a wheelchair now for a number years, she has not given up on the joy for life and her love for family and friends.
