Additional grants for Rotherham tenant groups
Rotherham Federation of Tenants and Residents has launched two further grants to support tenants and residents groups (TARAs) in the Borough. The Office Expenditure Grant is for TARAs to help them meet their accommodation or office expenditure costs. The grants are for any amount up to £1500. For TARAs applying for £500 and above, we would want to see the group match whatever funding we provide with financial support of their own. For groups applying for £1000 and above, we also wish to see a short business plan that evidences the sustainability of the group and that the grant can make a difference in their community.
The Small Equipment Scheme is a time limited scheme to provide small pieces of equipment for TARAs during Summer 2007 only. The scheme is for TARAs who join Rother Fed as members and is for purchase of equipment up to the value of £50. To apply, TARAs need write a letter requesting an item of equipment which we must receive by 31st August 2007 at the latest. This small scheme is being funded by income Rother Fed has generated from selling items on e-bay.
Because of the way they have been funded, all these grants are only available for Rotherham TARAs who have at
least 20% membership that are council house tenants. These grants are in addition to the Start Up Grants and
Maintenance Grants for TARAs launched by Rother Fed in June 2007. Steve Ruffle Development Manager said 'Rother Fed
is keen to support all those TARAs doing an excellent job in our local communities. We want to provide the money and
resources to support the work they do and their activity on the ground. Providing small grants are a great way for us to
do this'.
Application forms for all the grants are available from Rother Fed, Tenants Resource Centre, Eastwood Depot, Chesterton Road, Rotherham S65 1SZ, telephone 01709 822258 or e-mail info@rotherfed.org. All the applications forms can also be downloaded from our website.
