Fitness Club Needs Your Leftovers for Our Heroes
As losing weight and getting fit are at the top of the New Year's resolution lists, a local gym is launching a campaign to help everyone to stick to their promise plus bring sweet joy to our troops abroad.
Energie Fitness club is offering to help local wannabe slimmers avoid calories-packed post-Christmas temptations by launching a 'Fit Not Fat Amnesty' starting Friday 8th January 2010.
Staff at the club will be collecting anything from mince pies and crisps to chocolates and Xmas puddings, which will then be packaged and sent to soldiers in Afghanistan. The Amnesty is open to both members and non-members to give everyone in Rotherham the right start to fitness for the New Year.
Fitness expert and general manager at energie Fitness, Matt Burkhill believes the Fit Not Fat Amnesty is the perfect way to start a 2010 healthier living campaign, he said, "This is the busiest time of the year for people looking to shift a few pounds, lose excess inches and feel better about themselves after many over-indulgences during the Christmas and New Year period.
"One of the most important steps is to remove all 'junk' food from the house and from temptation. Rather than throw this away, we are encouraging people to drop it at the club before we send them to our Forces abroad."
Energie's Fit Not Fat Amnesty lasts for two weeks and all donations will be posted to Afghanistan by the end of January.
All donations are welcome but must be non-perishable and unopened. Visit your local Energie at Stoddard Way in Parkgate or call on 01709 719900.
