Cadeby Pit Disaster of 1912

Charles Bury

Charles Bury, aged 35, the manager of Cadeby Colliery who was seriously injured in the explosion, was taken to Fullerton Hospital, Denaby, Doncaster on 9th July. His condition deteriorated and he died on 15th July 1912.

His death made the total number of victims 87.

Arrangements had been made for the miners to return to the pit, but the men did not attend and the pit remained at a standstill.

The funeral took place on 16th July.
