In 1427 John Vyncent of Braithwell leased 'Le Priorie', a former grange of Lewes Priory, he was granted permission to build a hall to the west side of this building - Moat Hall.
John Vincent (1405-1461) married in 1428 to Agnes Barlow of Barlow, Derbyshire. They had a daughter Allison born at Braithwell in 1432 and a son John born in 1436. John (1405-1461) was killed at the Battle of Wakefield.
John second son of John Vincent and Marjorie (Nee Page) married in 1558 at Bradfield, Sheffield to Margaret Hudson of Bradfield (1535-1588).
Richard Vincent of Firsby, born about 1555, a student of Gray's Inn,nephew of John and Margaret, married in 23 Sept. 1595 at Firsby to Elizabeth Rokeby, daughter of Thomas Rokeby of Hotham. Richard died 1617.
Their second son was Thomas Vincent of Snaith and Barnburgh who married Susan Bosville of Warmsworth, daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Wormeley, of Hatfield, widow of Gervase Bosvile, of Warmsworth, and was buried at Conisborough, 10 Dec., 1652.
Philip Vincent, author, was baptised on 23 Nov. 1600 at Firsby, Ravenfield, in Yorkshire. He was the third son of Richard Vincent (d 1617), and Elizabeth Rokeby, and grandson of Richard Vincent who served in the French wars and was a younger son of the family of Vincent of Braithwell. Philip was educated at Peterhouse, Cambridge. In 1625 he was presented by Sir Francis Vincent to the rectory of Stoke D'Abernon in Surrey, which he resigned on 17 Aug. 1629.

Isabella, daughter of Thomas Vincent of Barnburgh married Reverend Joseph Crompton of Normanton upon Soare, Nottinghamshire. They had at least one daughter, Isabella.
Mary and Ann Vincent of Doncaster spinsters, were daughters of John Vincent of Barneburgh who was deceased before 1722.

In consideration of a marriage between (1) & (2) & marriage articles (DD/N/195/17 & DD/N/195/18) & for £2,000 (1) to (3) North Moiety of Manor of Thorney as in DD/N/195/10 above to use of (1) & (2) & their heirs male in tail. In default of heirs male to use of (4) for 500 yrs. in trust to raise £2,000 for any daughter or daughters of (1) & (2) to be equally divided amongst them at 18 yrs. or marriage.

Vincent of Barnborough Grange, Yorks., entitled to £925 and tithes of Melton on the Hill, Yorks., and fourth part of estates in Barnborough and Melton on the Hill, has conveyed them to (3) in trust to sell; (2) also has £1375 & reversion in fee of her mother's jointure (property in Yorks). In consideration of marriage of (1) and (2), agreed (1) to get £2000, (3) to sell estates in Barnborough and Melton, and pay (1) the balance of the £2000 and use the residue to purchase estates in England to be settled on the heirs of (1) and (2). Further agreed that on death of (2)'s mother her share of the jointure to be likewise sold & estates purchased settled on heirs of (1) and (2).
