Rotherham Dancer to make West End Debut

Dominic Tribuzio

Dominic Tribuzio, a young 18 year old dancer from Rotherham in South Yorkshire, has accepted a full 1 year contract to perform in cast of the smash Musical - Billy Elliot. He will make his West End Debut following rehearsals starting on the 16th October.

Billy Elliot the Musical is an adaptation of one of the most adored British films. It is a funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of one young boy's dream in a gripping tale of triumph over adversity. The original story captured the hearts and minds of the world when the movie was released, receiving 3 Oscar and 13 Bafta award nominations and breaking box office records across the world. The score for the stage show has been composed by Sir Elton John.

Dominic commenced his path to West End success, being trained at the highly succesful Swinton based McMahon School of Ballet & Theatre Dance. His background was not theatrical, in fact he started to dance quite late at 14 years of age, but his tale is certainly one of personal triumph. The image and perception of male dancers has always been difficult to shout about, as reflected in the story of Billy Elliot and Dominic's own choice to follow a career on the stage has not always been easy. Male dancers do not enjoy the prestige of sportsmen, yet a male dancer is a highly trained artistic athlete.

Much of the success of the male dancers who have trained at the same school as Dominic is, in no small part, due to the influence of the school's Principals and former professional dancers Niall & Nicola McMahon. Niall was himself a former male soloist with Scottish Ballet and is the Artistic Director of New English Contemporary Ballet.
